Another Letter to Eric Holder, "In re U.S. vs.Olofson"
Another Letter to Eric Holder, "In re U.S. vs.Olofson" Dear Eric, When I began this letter some days ago, I was pleased to hear at the time that the subject of my first letter to you back in May -- the case of that friend of mine whose life was threatened by your employees -- was thought to be shortly coming to a safe, legal resolution. It was expected then that the ATF would have to throw one or two perjured employees under the bus, the agency was going to have to change the way they do business and that your department would have to pay a bunch of money to people you would rather not. Still, I thought then, if we all get out of it alive that's more than some of your employees had cooked up before your intervention. That's a good thing. However, while I still thank you for your hands-on response, I learned today that my optimism may have been premature. This is extremely unfortunate, for as I said, there will be no more free Wacos. This is doubly discouraging coming on the heels of the Supreme Court's refusal to hear the final appeal of David Olofson, the Wisconsin father of three whose malfunctioning semi-automatic rifle was used against him by your employee, ATF Agent Jody Keeku, to attack and imprison an innocent man under color of law. There are two things about this case that bode future evil. First, there is now no legal way out for anyone who has a malfunctioning semi-auto rifle. Can they legally take it to a gunsmith to have it fixed? What is to prevent anyone with such a broken weapon from going to jail at the lowliest ATF agent's whim? Here’s what folks are having trouble digesting: - By your department's failure to restrain Keeku's outrageous conduct in returning the weapon to the ATF Testing Branch after it had been found by them NOT TO BE A MACHINEGUN but simply a malfunctioning semiauto rifle, with the demand that they retest it until they came to her opinion; - By the trial judge's refusal to allow defense experts to even examine the weapon; and - By the appellate court's blind refusal to allow a new trial based on these and other prosecutorial misdeeds, the Federal government -- that's you, Eric, as the nation’s highest-ranking law enforcement officer -- has put every owner of a semi-auto rifle on notice that they cannot count on the protections of the rule of law. Secondly, and even more dangerously, if we can no longer count on a fair trial in a case of obvious ATF misconduct, then rationally, we have no reasonable expectation of a fair trial at all. In that case, we then are faced, when approached by any law enforcement officer attempting to enforce any gun law, with a Hobson’s choice: - Submit, and be railroaded unfairly into prison, or - Resist, and endure not only the personal consequences of that defiance, but also the likely consequences of a regional or even national conflagration. As Attorney General and loyal servant of the President, you will, of course, dispute our conclusions. But Eric ? only a fool would deny these unintended consequences of this pattently unfair case. You are not a fool. As such, you need not believe that we are correct in our conclusions, but make no mistake -- WE believe we are correct, and are thus adjusting our options accordingly. This practical reality, added on top of your department's previous misadventures going back to Ruby Ridge and Waco (and the subsequent successful cover-ups), make inadvertent violence, even accidental civil war, ever more likely. Look, I'm not a leader of any organization, I'm just an Internet scribbler who sees things more clearly than most. It happens that a number of folks agree with me. Yet, on a good day my blog gets only about 5,500 hits. In Internet terms that's miniscule. Chump change. But I have had certain experiences in dealing with out-of-control government agencies over the past 16 years which gives me insights into possible futures, most of which scare the crap out of me and ought to scare the crap out of you, too. Back in the Nineties, my friend and New Mexico militia leader Bob Wright learned that the ATF planned a raid on some innocents in his area. He asked the FBI Special Agent in Charge to meet him and when he arrived at the appointed place Bob opened with these words: "You know, back in the Sixties, the left in this country advanced the opinion that if the people who actually fought the wars could sit down and talk things over, there wouldn't be any wars . . . We're here to test that theory." I write to you today with the same desire to avoid conflict, and precisely because the threat of accidental causation is there, I will speak as bluntly to you now as Bob did then to the FBI. We do not have time for faux politeness and insincere pretence. For we are potentially, thanks to your employees and their reputation over the past twenty or more years, on the brink of a spasm of violence unlike anything this country has ever seen. If they are worth what you are paying them, your analysts must be telling you how dangerous is the mood in this country right now. And if their reports are not reaching you, then certainly the monthly tallies of firearm and ammunition sales are. This march towards the abyss did not happen overnight, and it will not go away of itself. Smart, capable people are looking at the world around them, and here is what they see: - The suppurating wound of Waco and its aftermath is still festering; - The prospects for armed government misadventure (be it ATF, FBI, DHS, or any of the other hordes of armed Federal agents stalking the land) growing day by day; - The increasing realization on our side that the “Waco rules” (e.g., “kill as many witnesses to government malfeasance as possible, indict and convict any survivors, and obstruct any attempts at independent investigation”) still obtain; - By the recycling of former Clinton Administration officials in the current Administration, the present Federal law enforcement mechanisms remain staffed by people who believe, as they did in the Nineties, that they can do anything we can't physically stop them from doing; and - Unprecedented levels of electronic surveillance, both within and without the traditional Constitutional restraints against governmental overreach, being directed against all American citizens, especially who those dare to criticize Leviathan government. Eric, it doesn't take a social scientist to understand that things are quickly going to get out of hand unless somebody pulls back from the brink. Not to put too fine a point on it, Eric, but that somebody is you. YOU are the nation’s highest-ranking law enorcement official. YOU must restrain your employees from illegal actions. YOU must get a handle on not only out-of-control agencies like the ATF, but the entire panoply of Federal law enforcement agencies. And, most importantly, YOU must reassure us that you will return these agencies to the rule of law and the constitutional restraints that the Founders put in place. You must understand that as firearms owners we are done backing up. For 75 years, since the National Firearms Act of 1934, the federal government has encroached upon our tradional rights to liberty and property and each time we backed up, grumbling. No more. It is YOU who need to consider backing YOUR employees out of OUR faces. Almost a month ago, I wrote this on my blog, Sipsey Street Irregulars: Today I read some internal ATF documents that cannot be publicized for now, yet they convinced me beyond a shadow of a doubt that the agency is as rogue at this moment as it ever was. The failure of successive administrations of both parties to rein in these armed bureaucrats can only lead to deadly, bloody misadventure which will trigger a murderous spasm unlike anything yet seen in this country's long history of periodic civil strife. The thing is, once started, the regime will find it almost impossible to stop on any terms besides their own unconditional surrender as they would be fighting an enraged but dispersed network insurgency. It is likely that after a few weeks of such blood-letting, the administration will be unable to find anybody left alive with sufficient influence among the insurgents with whom they can negotiate an end to the horror. The fact of the matter is that they would have done their best to kill the folks they would need to stop what they started. And they will want to stop it, oh, yes, out of concern for their own miserable hides if nothing else. For they will have provoked a conflict that will not be directed at the war-fighters, the grunts, even those in the outnumbered federal police, but rather at the war-makers, i.e. themselves. In this they have only Bill Clinton to blame. When the Philanderer in Chief, frustrated with Serbian intransigence in 1999, changed the rules of engagement to include the political leadership, news media and the intellectual underpinnings of his enemy's war effort, he accidentally filed suit under the Law of Unintended Consequences. The Serbians knuckled under, yes. But the rest of the world took note, including us. I assure you, the appeal to the higher court of history in that case has yet to be decided. These awful thoughts, Eric, were not only provoked by the ATF documents, as bad as they were, but also by the current popularity in government circles of "decapitation strategies." Indeed, it was the original warnings about my friend, borne out in these documents, that convinced me that the ATF, an alleged "law enforcement" agency, was interested in their own decapitation strategy when it came to people they found bureaucratically threatening or even merely inconvenient to the way they have done business these past decades. These dark impulses of your own employees may, if unrestrained by you, start a chain reaction, a spasm, that would be difficult if not impossible to stop once started. In this same essay, I offer a hypothetical speculation that pulls no punches. This is not about the rule of law, after all. United States vs. Olofson convinced us of that. As with Waco, this is about raw, unrestrained government power, and how free men and women who wish to remain free may deal with it at a time when politics and the courts have failed utterly to do so. Unfortunately for them, in the situation the administration would find itself after Waco Two, the "decapitation" strategy would for them more resemble Russian Roulette played with an automatic pistol. Hypothetical: They kill some of us, at first accidentally perhaps, but almost immediately thereafter intentionally. The spasm of defensive killing begins, targeted at their leadership. They spasm in return. They would not be able to scuttle into their "green zones" fast enough. For each clumsy attack on us, they receive a lesson in the 500 meter war, one bullet (or many bullets) at a time. They commit "collateral damage" of our innocents, we stay within the rules of engagement and kill only war-planners and war-wagers. I have asked this question before. They will fight to the last ATF agent or to the last oath-breaking soldier. Will they fight to the first senior bureaucrat, the second Congressman, the third newspaper editor, the fourth Senator, the fifth White House aide? Can they stand Bill Clinton's rules of engagement? These are the stakes for them, though they do not understand it. And once they start it, they will find it impossible to stop, until they surrender unconditionally or personally face the music themselves. Forgive me these dark thoughts, my friends, on this Constitution Day. They are occasioned by my glimpse today inside the minds of some taxpayer-supported jack booted thugs. They really are as venal, stupid, arrogant and dangerous as I feared. As I read their innermost thoughts, freely expressed among themselves, I realized that all my efforts to prevent this madness from happening will very likely be mere cruel, futile self-deception on my part. And given the arrogant, narcissistic master they now nominally serve, it is unlikely this will end with mere politics, but rather by what Clausewitz called "politics by other means." May God forgive them. For whoever is left standing with a rifle after the initial spasm that they start certainly won't. "Leadership decapitation" indeed. Their leadership. . . and their decapitation. These are the darkest of thoughts, Eric, and I do not relish them. Yet someone must say them, and say them to you, for it is your employees we are talking about. Only if everyone understands the consequences, personal and societal, to further deadly misadventure by your employees may civil war be averted. Yes, we are that close. Ask your analysts. Unless they have fertilizer for brains, or fear to tell you the truth, they will confirm the imminent danger. We have no desire to go down this bloody road, the mere fact of my writing you on this subject should tell you that, but we will not be shoved back any further and we will not allow any more free Wacos. The choice, then, is yours. However, if worse comes to worst, and your employees once more get out of control, by miscalculation or deliberate action, I would like to give you a means of communication with the men and women you will have provoked to defensive violence. As I do not expect to survive the first round of this ghastly horror, I make my gift in advance, and you will find it enclosed with this letter. When the spasm you initiate by attacking some innocent has escalated to the point that you wish it to stop, you should understand that this can only mean your unconditional surrender to the forces of restoration of the constitutional republic. Enclosed, then, is the battle flag of the Three Percent. Your analysts will certainly have explained to you by now who we are. In any case, when you sincerely desire the shooting to stop and you wish to indicate your unconditional surrender, take this flag and run it up the pole at Main Justice. Your tormentors will see it, and understand, and the firing will taper off, then stop. Then you will have to take your chances with the war crimes trials, but as I expect to be dead by that point, I can't make you any promises. Of course this is all hypothetical. It may even be that I'm off my rocker and imagining the whole thing. But can you count on that? You're betting the whole farm on it, if you do. You are in fact betting all our farms and all our futures, even those of our children's children. Maybe I AM a loon. But then, I'm not imagining your employees' venal acts, am I? We both know that. Nor am I making up the continuing run on firearms and ammunition. Do you really want to find out what that's all about? Because the one thing I know I'm not imagining is that the American people are fed up with being victimized by the same federal employees they are supposed to be paying to protect them from real criminals. So, please, Eric, get your gang under control, for all our sakes. You're their boss, for crying out loud. Suck it up and prove it. As always, I wish you a full, successful and safe term as Attorney General. Re: Another Letter to Eric Holder, "In re U.S. vs.Olofson"
TA it makes one wonder how accurate he is on his perception of Americans and are there really that many who believe as he says they do, I'm inclined to agree that many folks indeed are feeling more like a cornered animal and are doing there best to avoid a conflict,I think the massive sales of arms and ammunition should indeed be fair warning to those individuals in alphabet organizations within the federal government and the local governments as well, I for one do not look forward to what I also see coming, but I and many others I know will not back down if pushed as far as I believe they eventually will push. I am reminded of the letter William Cooper wrote entitled "dear Officer", I will post it below for those who have not read it, and I must say from the post I put in the other day titled "home grown terrorists according to FBI" I have decided that they probably know where I stand, and at this point I don't care anymore what they think or do.
This is the first I've heard of " U.S. vs Olofson ", usually I'm a little more up on things, must be asleep at the wheel, was there another letter previous to this one where I can catch up to speed? Dear Officer: I don't want to kill you. I don't even want to wound you. I admire your courage and the commitment you've made to help others, often at risk of own your life. I hope you won't come for me, because if you do, one of us will die. It may be you. I've done nothing wrong. I don't intend to. But the government which you serve has passed too many laws. I am sure to accidentally break one, some day. And that same government is systematically destroying the unalienable rights which our Constitution says may not be infringed very specifically, my right to keep and bear arms. I am not some wacko lunatic, but I can no longer stand idly by, while decent people are systematically enslaved by an out-of-control government. I cannot allow a corrupt judiciary to use its power to destroy my rights and my country. That government and that judiciary has begun to use you to arrest and kill people just like me people who believe that the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights mean what they say. You don't know me, but you see me every day. I may be a businessman, a truck driver, an executive. I could be a housewife or a salesman. But I am armed, as Americans have been for over 250 years, and I am determined to keep the freedoms which only an armed people may retain. With a rifle, I can hit a man-sized target at 800 yards. At shorter distances, in the blink of an eye, I can hit a head-size target with a rifle or a handgun. I don't wear a uniform. I don't drive a marked car. I don't wear camouflage. I could be your own secretary, or your barber. I might be the guy who delivers your bottled water, or the parcel delivery lady. You don't know who I am, or what arms I have, and you never will. I am tens of millions. I am America. But I know you. I know your uniform, your car, and your work schedule. I know where you work, and where you live. And that is good for you, because not only am I no threat to you, so long as you do the job for which you are hired, I am also prepared to assist you when you are threatened by real criminals. There aren't many of me left, you may think, but believe me, there are many, many more than you can imagine. When the chips are down, we are the ones who are truly on your side. On your side, that is, so long as you honor your Oath. We are on your side if you are one of the majority of peace officers who are not corrupt and who have not sold out to the socialists and communists freedom betrayers who will do anything, say anything to destroy the America our fathers and grandfathers bequeathed us. No, I am no threat to you, but your bosses in government don't see it that way. They think that I, and my arms, are a threat to them, and they are planning to send you for me, just as they've sent armed, dangerous officers on select little missions for years, taking out targeted individuals. On their orders, you may succeed in murdering me for my beliefs. Or you may not. Whether or not you succeed in murdering me, as federal agents murdered Vicki Weaver and her young son in Idaho; or as those same federal agents murdered 81 men, women and children at Waco, Texas; there will be others who will rise up in my memory, as I now rise up in honor of the innocent lives taken by the jack-booted thugs and black-clad imitation ninjas who think it is fun to murder Americans who have somehow become convinced that it is their job to murder Americans! I am prepared to die, honoring my sacred Oath as an American, to defend and protect the Constitution of the united States of America. Are you prepared to die to violate the Oath you took? You see, our government is out of control. It has rotted, from the top down. You know it. You've seen it. But you, like many others, have been too concerned with your job, your family, and your pension, to say or do anything about it. Deep down, you know I am right. But you think you must follow orders. Or must you? Are you going to murder me for having the courage to stand up for the country and the principles in which you believe? Are you going to go along with unconscionably illegal, unconstitutional orders, just as "good" German soldiers followed their orders? Are you going to be a peace officer or a jack-booted thug? There is little difference between a street outlaw who murders and robs; and a uniformed thug who murders and robs under color of law. The result is the same. Property confiscated, lives ruined, families ripped apart, murder committed, and a free nation destroyed. Look at history. Look around the world. As we move toward a lawless society, our country moves closer and closer to anarchy and then some form of fascism. Are you going to enforce unconstitutional laws? Are you going to be the private army of socio/fascist dictators who masquerade as democratic representatives? Or are you going to do your part to recapture America? Are you going to keep your eyes and ears open? Will you quietly let me know when the jack-booted thugs in the SWAT teams have targeted me? Will you let your fellow officers know that they are being sold down the river by their corrupt masters? Don't come to kill me. Because I don't want to kill you. If you do come, you may succeed if you get lucky. But don't count on luck, because it will probably be hard damned hard. Like millions of other Americans, I am the son or daughter of a nation of riflemen citizen-soldiers who have a rich heritage of beating the best the enemy can send against us. We are resourceful. We cherish our homes and freedom. We understand weapons and tactics. You are foolish if you intend to be our enemy. If you don't succeed, and in the long run, you won't, here's what you can expect: ambushes of SWAT teams, and the wholesale slaughter of all the jack-booted thugs who have murdered innocent Americans on the orders of their socialist masters; targeted assassinations and kidnappings of anti-Constitution judges, and assassinations of anti-American, anti-gun politicians. By your willingness to be a good little Nazi, you will have unleashed a civil war just what America's enemies want. It doesn't have to be that way. You can do something about it. It's easy. Read the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Although you took an Oath to defend them, you don't learn much about them in your training, do you? Today, these documents are considered dangerous by the government, just as King George found them dangerous over 200 years ago. Why do you suppose your leaders lead you to oppose the very rights you swore to protect? Why do they want a disarmed public? You know the reason. It has nothing to do with controlling crime. It has everything to do with using you to disarm, fine, control, and ultimately murder your American fellows just like the brownshirts and the SS did to German citizens. Don't fall for it. Don't force me to kill you. (signed) 100 Million American Patriots |

Eric Holder's 24x7 security team carries full-autos.
David Olofson represents every free American. I dogmatically believe that Mike Vanderboegh is one of the good guys, and it is hard to disagree with his analysis at this point. |

The concept of Leaderless Resistance was proposed by Col. Ulius Louis Amoss, who was the founder of International Service of Information Incorporated, located in Baltimore, Maryland. Col. Amoss died more than fifteen years ago, but during his life was a tireless opponent of communism, as well as a skilled Intelligence Officer. Col. Amoss first wrote of Leaderless Resistance on April 17, 1962. His theories of organization were primarily directed against the threat of eventual Communist take-over in the United States. The present writer, with the benefit of having lived many years beyond Col. Amoss, has taken his theories and expounded upon them. Col. Amoss feared the Communists. This author fears the federal government. Communism now represents a threat to no one in the United States, while federal tyranny represents a threat to everyone . The writer has joyfully lived long enough to see the dying breaths of communism, but may, unhappily, remain long enough to see the last grasps of freedom in America. In the hope that, somehow, America can still produce the brave sons and daughters necessary to fight off ever increasing persecution and oppression, this essay is offered. Frankly, it is too close to call at this point. Those who love liberty, and believe in freedom enough to fight for it are rare today, but within the bosom of every once great nation, there remains secreted, the pearls of former greatness. They are there. I have looked into their sparking eyes; sharing a brief moment in time with them as I passed through this life. Relished their friendship, endured their pain, and they mine. We are a band of brothers, native to the soil gaining strength one from another as we have rushed head long into a battle that all the weaker, timid men, say we can not win. Perhaps...but then again, perhaps we can. It's not over till the last freedom fighter is buried or imprisoned, or the same happens to those who would destroy their freedom. Barring any cataclysmic events, the struggle will yet go on for years. The passage of time will make it clear to even the more slow among us that the government is the foremost threat to the life, and liberty of the folk. The government will no doubt make today's oppressiveness look like grade school work compared to what they have planned in the future. Meanwhile, there are those of us who continue to hope that somehow the few can do what the many have not. We are cognizant that before things get better they will certainly get worse as government shows a willingness to use ever more severe police state measures against dissidents. This changing situation makes it clear that those who oppose state repression must be prepared to alter, adapt, and modify their behavior, strategy, and tactics as circumstances warrant. Failure to consider new methods and implement them as necessary will make the government's efforts at suppression uncomplicated. It is the duty of every patriot to make the tyrant's life miserable. When one fails to do so they not only fails themself, but also the people. With this in mind, current methods of resistance to tyranny employed by those who love our race, culture, and heritage must pass a litmus test of soundness. Methods must be objectively measured as to their effectiveness, as well as to whether they make the government's intention of repression more possible or more difficult. Those not working to aid our objectives must be discarded or the government benefits from our failure to do so. As honest People who have banded together into groups or associations of a political or religious nature are falsely labeled "domestic terrorists" or "cultists" and suppressed, it will become necessary to consider other methods of organization--or as the case may very well call for: non-organization. One should keep in mind that it is not in the government's interest to eliminate all groups. Some few must remain in order to perpetuate the smoke and mirrors vision for the masses that America is a "free democratic country" where dissent is allowed. Most organizations, however, that possess the potential for effective resistance will not be allowed to continue. Anyone who is so naive as to believe the most powerful government on earth will not crush any who pose a real threat to that power, should not be active, but rather, at home studying political history. The question as to who is to be left alone and who is not, will be answered by how groups and individuals deal with several factors such as: avoidance of conspiracy plots, rejection of feeble minded malcontents, insistence upon quality of the participants, avoidance of all contact with the front men for the federals--the news media--and, finally, camouflage (which can be defined as the ability to blend in the public's eye the more committed groups of resistance with mainstream "kosher" associations that are generally seen as harmless.) Primarily though, whether any organization is allowed to continue in the future will be a matter of how big a threat a group represents. Not a threat in terms of armed might or political ability, for there is none of either for the present, but rather, threat in terms of potentiality. It is potential the federals fear most. Whether that potential exists in an individual or group is incidental. The federals measure potential threat in terms of what might happen given a situation conducive to action on the part of a restive organization or individual. Accurate intelligence gathering allows them to assess the potential. Showing one's hand before the bets are made, is a sure way to loose. The movement for freedom is rapidly approaching the point where for many people, the option of belonging to a group will be nonexistent. For others, group membership will be a viable option for only the immediate future. Eventually, and perhaps much sooner than most believe possible, the price paid for membership will exceed any perceived benefit. But for now, some of the groups that do exist often serve a useful purpose either for the newcomer who can be indoctrinated into the ideology of the struggle, or for generating positive propaganda to reach potential freedom fighters. It is sure that, for the most part, this struggle is rapidly becoming a matter of individual action, each of its participants making a private decision in the quietness of their heart to resist: To resist by any means necessary. It is hard to know what others will do, for no one truly knows another persons heart. It is enough to know what one themself will do. A great teacher once said "know thyself." Few People really do, but let each of us, promise ourselves, not to go quietly to the fate our would-be masters have planned. The concept of Leaderless Resistance is nothing less than a fundamental departure in theories of organization. The orthodox scheme of organization is diagrammatically represented by the pyramid, with the mass at the bottom and the leader at the top. This fundamental of organization is to be seen not only in armies, which are of course, the best illustration of the pyramid structure, with the mass of soldiery, the privates, at the bottom responsible to corporals who are in turn responsible to sergeants, and so on up the entire chain of command to the generals at the top. But the same structure is seen in corporations, ladies' garden clubs and in our political system itself. This orthodox "pyramid" scheme of organization is to be seen basically in all existing political, social and religious structures in the world today from the Federal government to the Roman Catholic Church. The Constitution of the United States, in the wisdom of the Founders, tried to sublimate the essential dictatorial nature of pyramidal organization by dividing authority into three: executive, legislative and judicial. But the pyramid remains essentially untouched. This scheme of organization, the pyramid, is however, not only useless, but extremely dangerous for the participants when it is utilized in a resistance movement against state tyranny. Especially is this so in technologically advanced societies where electronic surveillance can often penetrate the structure revealing its chain of command. Experience has revealed over and over again that anti-state, political organizations utilizing this method of command and control are easy prey for government infiltration, entrapment, and destruction of the personnel involved. This has been seen repeatedly in the United States where pro-government infiltrators or agent provocateurs weasel their way into patriotic groups and destroy them from within. In the pyramid type of organization, an infiltrator can destroy anything which is beneath their level of infiltration and often those above them as well. If the traitor has infiltrated at the top, then the entire organization from the top down is compromised and may be traduced at will. An alternative to the pyramid type of organization is the cell system. In the past, many political groups (both right and left) have used the cell system to further their objectives. Two examples will suffice. During the American Revolution "committees of correspondence" were formed throughout the Thirteen colonies. Their purpose was to subvert the government and thereby aid the cause of independence. The "Sons of Liberty", who made a name for themselves dumping government taxed tea into the harbor at Boston, were the action arm of the committees of correspondence. Each committee was a secret cell that operated totally independently of the other cells. Information on the government was passed from committee to committee, from colony to colony, and then acted upon on a local basis. Yet even in these bygone days of poor communication, of weeks to months for a letter to be delivered, the committees without any central direction whatsoever, were remarkable similar in tactics employed to resist government tyranny. It was, as the first American patriots knew, totally unnecessary for anyone to give an order for anything. Information was made available to each committee, and each committee acted as it saw fit. A recent example of the cell system taken from the left wing of politics are the Communists. The Communist, in order to get around the obvious problems involved in pyramidal organization, developed to an art the cell system. They had numerous independent cells which operated completely isolated from one another and particularly with no knowledge of each other, but were orchestrated together by a central headquarters. For instance, during World War II, in Washington, it is known that there were at least six secret Communist cells operating at high levels in the United States government (plus all the open Communists who were protected and promoted by President Roosevelt), however, only one of the cells was rooted out and destroyed. How many more actually were operating no one can say for sure. The Communist cells which operated in the U.S until late 1991 under Soviet control could have at their command a leader, who held a social position which appeared to be very lowly. He could be, for example, a busboy in a restaurant, but in reality a colonel or a general in the Soviet Secret Service, the KGB. Under him could be a number of cells and a person active in one cell would almost never have knowledge of individuals who are active in another cell. The value of this is that while any one cell can be infiltrated, exposed or destroyed, such action will have no effect on the other cells; in fact, the members of the other cells will be supporting that cell which is under attack and ordinarily would lend very strong support to it in many ways. This is at least part of the reason, no doubt, that whenever in the past Communists were attacked in this country, support for them sprang up in many unexpected places. The efficient and effective operation of a cell system after the Communist model, is of course, dependent upon central direction, which means impressive organization, funding from the top, and outside support, all of which the Communists had. Obviously, American patriots have none of these things at the top or anywhere else, and so an effective cell organization based upon the Soviet system of operation is impossible. Two things become clear from the above discussion. First, that the pyramid type of organization can be penetrated quite easily and it thus is not a sound method of organization in situations where the government has the resources and desire to penetrate the structure; which is the situation in this country. Secondly, that the normal qualifications for the cell structure based upon the Red model does not exist in the U.S. for patriots. This understood, the question arises "What method is left for those resisting state tyranny?" The answer comes from Col. Amoss who proposed the "Phantom Cell" mode of organization. Which he described as Leaderless Resistance. A system of organization that is based upon the cell organization, but does not have any central control or direction, that is in fact almost identical to the methods used by the Committees of Correspondence during the American Revolution. Utilizing the Leaderless Resistance concept, all individuals and groups operate independently of each other, and never report to a central headquarters or single leader for direction or instruction, as would those who belong to a typical pyramid organization. At first glance, such a type of organization seems unrealistic, primarily because there appears to be no organization. The natural question thus arises as to how are the "Phantom cells" and individuals to cooperate with each other when there is no intercommunication or central direction? The answer to this question is that participants in a program of Leaderless Resistance through phantom cell or individual action must know exactly what they are doing, and how to do it. It becomes the responsibility of the individual to acquire the necessary skills and information as to what is to be done. This is by no means as impractical as it appears, because it is certainly true that in any movement, all persons involved have the same general outlook, are acquainted with the same philosophy, and generally react to given situations in similar ways. The pervious history of the committees of correspondence during the American Revolution show this to be true. Since the entire purpose of Leaderless Resistance is to defeat state tyranny (at least insofar as this essay is concerned), all members of phantom cells or individuals will tend to react to objective events in the same way through usual tactics of resistance. Organs of information distribution such as newspapers, leaflets, computers, etc., which are widely available to all, keep each person informed of events, allowing for a planned response that will take many variations. No one need issue an order to anyone. Those idealist truly committed to the cause of freedom will act when they feel the time is ripe, or will take their cue from others who precede them. While it is true that much could be said against this type of structure as a method of resistance, it must be kept in mind that Leaderless Resistance is a child of necessity. The alternatives to it have been show to be unworkable or impractical. Leaderless Resistance has worked before in the American Revolution, and if the truly committed put it to use for themselves, it will work now. It goes almost without saying that Leaderless Resistance leads to very small or even one man cells of resistance. Those who join organizations to play "let's pretend" or who are "groupies" will quickly be weeded out. While for those who are serious about their opposition to federal despotism, this is exactly what is desired. From the point of view of tyrants and would be potentates in the federal bureaucracy and police agencies, nothing is more desirable than that those who oppose them be UNIFIED in their command structure, and that every person who opposes them belong to a pyramid type group. Such groups and organizations are an easy kill. Especially in light of the fact that the Justice (sic) Department promised in 1987 that there would never be another group that opposed them that they did not have at least one informer in. These federal "friends of government" are intelligence agents. They gather information that can be used at the whim of a federal D.A. to prosecute. The line of battle has been drawn. Patriots are required therefore, to make a conscious decision to either aid the government in its illegal spying, by continuing with old methods of organization and resistance, or to make the enemie's job more difficult by implementing effective countermeasures. Now there will, no doubt, be mentally handicapped people out there who, while standing at a podium with an American flag draped in the background, and a lone eagle soaring in the sky above, will state emphatically in their best sounding red, white, and blue voice, "So what if the government is spying? We are not violating any laws." Such crippled thinking by any serious person is the best example that there is a need for special education classes. The person making such a statement is totally out of contact with political reality in this country, and unfit for leadership of any thing more than a dog sleigh in the Alaskan wilderness. The old "Born on the fourth of July" mentality that has influenced so much of the American patriot's thinking in the past will not save him from the government in the future. "Reeducation" for non-thinkers of this type will take place in the federal prison system where there are no flags or eagles, but abundance of men who were "not violating any law." Most groups who "unify" their disparate associates into a single structure have short political lives. Therefore, those movement leaders constantly calling for unity of organization rather than the desirable unity of purpose, usually fall into one of three categories. They may not be sound political tacticians, but rather, just committed men who feel unity would help their cause, while not realizing that the government would greatly benefit from such efforts. The Federal objective, to imprison or destroy all who oppose them, is made easier in pyramid organizations. Or perhaps, they do not fully understand the struggle they are involved in and that the government they oppose has declared a state of war against those fighting for faith, folk, freedom and constitutional liberty. Those in power will use any means to rid themselves of opposition. The third class calling for unity and let us hope this is the minority of the three, are men more desirous of the supposed power that a large organization would bestow, than of actually achieving their stated purpose. Conversely, the last thing Federal snoops would have, if they had any choice in the matter, is a thousand different small phantom cells opposing them. It is easy to see why. Such a situation is an intelligence nightmare for a government intent upon knowing everything they possibly can about those who oppose them. The Federals, able to amass overwhelming strength of numbers, manpower, resources, intelligence gathering, and capability at any given time, need only a focal point to direct their anger. A single penetration of a pyramid type of organization can lead to the destruction of the whole. Whereas, Leaderless Resistance presents no single opportunity for the Federals to destroy a significant portion of the Resistance. With the announcement by the Department of Justice (sic) that 300 FBI agents formerly assigned to watching Soviet spies in the US (domestic counter intelligence) are now to be used to "combat crime", the federal government is preparing the way for a major assault upon those persons opposed to their policies. Many anti-government groups dedicated to the preservation of the America of our forefathers can expect shortly to feel the brunt of a new federal assault upon liberty. It is clear, therefore, that it is time to rethink traditional strategy and tactics when it comes to opposing a modern police state. America is quickly moving into a long dark night of police state tyranny, where the rights now accepted by most as being inalienable will disappear. Let the coming night be filled with a thousand points of resistance. Like the fog which forms when conditions are right and disappears when they are not, so must the resistance to tyranny be. "If every person has the right to defend--even by force--his person, his liberty, and his property, then it follows that a group of men have the right to organize and support a common force to protect these rights constantly." ---The Law. Frederick Bastiat Paris, 1850. T |
